My Grandmother/Birthday Twin Velma Trahan passed away Friday.

I’ve been thinking about a lot of things (IYKYK) but this is what I’d like to share…

My Granny is the reason I’m Bougie.

At a very young age I was eating off of fancy plates, drinking my juice out of gold trimmed glasses & using gold silverware.

We (me, my sister & my cousins) played dress up in REAL Furs & Sequin dresses.

We rode around in all her fancy cars.

She owned a beauty salon so getting our nails & hair done on the regular was normal.

I've been thinking about her house in Deer Creek a lot.

I loved the floor plan & EVERYTHING I want in house was there.

A large island in the kitchen, big pantry, a garden tub in the master, walk-in closets, large windows & lots of natural light.

I used to call it the “Underground House”.

It was built into a hill.

Like seriously, who does that?

My Granny, that’s who.

If I had to choose one word to describe her, it would be GLAMOROUS.

But don’t get it twisted. She taught us to work hard too.

My Momma was an entrepreneur because of her & although I never thought I could do it, here I am.

Starting my own business was scary but I had a blueprint.

Elegant Accessories. I still remember the number. 235-1575.

I remember talking to Country about wanting to give up on the Studio & he told me “You got this. It’s in your blood.” He was right.

I was always in charge of organizing her shoes, clothes & bags which is probably the reason why I have OCD. This was also passed on to my Son.

I was also in charge of watering all the plants at the shop & at her house. Go figure.

Anyway, our birthday is this Saturday & in honor of my Granny, I’m going to start incorporating more GLAM into my life.

I think you should too.

Wear your fancy clothes.

Use those fancy dishes.

Don’t save them for later.

Enjoy them NOW.

Treat yourself to something nice just because.

Life is too short & every day is special.

I love y’all
